Medio Peso is a collective of two Dominican artists created in 2015, since then they have produced urban art, illustration, and design. Their speech is based on the cultural diversity that makes up the Dominican Republic. They are influenced by multiple cultures, and seek harmony between them, focus on inheritances and customs of the Caribbean, Taino, and African. This is how their graphics, and design are born, are not exact, are unclear, but momentarily capable of answering some questions. It proposes a visually homogeneous response loaded with magic, mysticism and even religiosity with a spark of humor and criticism.
“Culture, immigration and identity is the story line of the mural we made in lynn for Beyond Walls, the message behind is a set of feelings and stories, a discourse of the past that can still be heard in the present, it is a story of the journey of cultures and mixtures, of where we come and where we are going, what we left on the road and what we achieved in the journey.
The wall is based on the cultural and religious mix that the Dominican Republic has, the influences of the Tainos, Africans and Europeans, hide the identity or forget where we came from, where we are from, who were our ancestors? Some of the questions that made us reach this story. ”
